"All" Means ALL

Recently, I heard a preacher refer to God as an “all-consuming fire”.  For as long as I can remember, I’ve heard this, but I’ve never really thought about it.  When there is a fire, you know there are some things that are gone to never return, again.  When there is an “all-consuming” fire, it’s implied that everything is gone, that nothing is salvageable.  When this is used to describe God, well, let’s see…our sins are consumed, our needs are consumed, our sickness is consumed, our selfishness is consumed, our rebellion is consumed, etc, etc, etc.  If we are born again and filled with that “Holy-Ghost fire”, God can’t salvage anything that’s left of the old man; it’s all gone in His sight.  That’s a word of encouragement to me!
