Dreamer's Destination

When I was growing up, I spent a lot of time in the swing on my great-grandmother’s porch.  The house was vacant and next door to ours, so I was able to go pretty much anytime.  When I’d hit that swing, I could spend hours…just daydreaming.  My other favorite place – where I spent even more time – was in the rocking chair on my grandmother’s porch.  That was different, because there was always somebody there!  It was also her favorite spot, so as long as it wasn’t too hot or too cold, and she felt up to it, we knew where we were headed, lol.  We spent HOURS on that porch!!  I guess I get my love for porch-sittin’ from her, because she would sit out there for long stretches of time by herself.  But, whenever I’d be out there by myself, I did the same thing as I did in the swing – I daydreamed.  Well, since I can’t drive 500 miles to sit on either porch, I’m thankful for a recent discovery:  our church playground, lol!  It has the most amazing view, and the swing-set makes a great substitute for Granny’s swing and Maw Virgie’s rocker!  The swings themselves aren’t what you’d call a “dream destination”, lol, but for this little girl from the Mississippi sticks, it is most certainly a “dreamer’s destination”!  Not only in the sense that it’s another wonderful place for me to let my mind go into daydreaming mode, but when I look at that mountain, I know that I’ve arrived at the destination of some of my past daydreams :)
