Looking back through some of my older jot-downs, I saw something I’d written about Exodus 13:17…”God didn’t take the Israelites down the road that was nearby, just as He often does with us.” I couldn’t help but laugh at the truth of this, lol. Think about it – how many times have you been traveling the prayer road, waiting for the turn-off that will get you to where you want to go? Pretty soon, you see a sign that points to the destination, and you just know you’re about to arrive! You are, of course, letting God drive (aren’t you? J), and you get excited and say something like, “Oh, I can’t believe we’re almost there! Thank You so much for bringing me to this place!” As you approach the road where you assume you’ll be turning, HE KEEPS DRIVING. What?? You turn to Him and exclaim, “Lord, where are You going!? You’re missing the turn!” He turns and smiles. “Child, we have to go a little farther before we get to the turn-off I want to take. There are several routes to the destination, and the one we’re taking is still up ahead.” “But, Lord, why do we have to keep going?? There’s a road *right there*!” Sound familiar? Sometimes, the Lord wants to take the scenic route, so just sit back, trust that He knows where He’s taking you, and enjoy the ride!
